Cinnamon is a spice that’s synonymous with the holidays. Fresh baked cinnamon bread and cinnamon-flavored coffee cakes and cookies are holiday favorites across the globe.

But this distinctively flavored spice also has several health benefits. Studies have shown that just 1/2 teaspoon of cinnamon per day can lower your LDL cholesterol and even help relieve arthritis. It’s also commonly used as a natural food preservative to inhibit bacterial growth and spoilage.
Slicing perfect Cinnamon Rolls:¬†If you’ve ever made cinnamon rolls, you know how messy things can get when you try to slice them into clean, even sections.

Try this tip: BakeSpace member “Sweetsins” suggests a nifty trick that uses dental floss to make clean slices. Once you’ve rolled the dough, place the floss under the log and raise both ends of the string. Then cross both ends and pull down. This slices the roll evenly without smashing it.

Monkey Bread is a holiday tradition in my house. It is the first thing we eat Christmas morning as we open gifts. In fact, the kids wait to open presents if the Monkey Bread isn’t finished!
I’ve never made mine with cinnamon rolls but might give this a try.
My recipe is the “pillsbury” roll type. Rolling the dough into fresh cinnamon and sugar and than topping with melted butter, brown sugar and nuts.
I’ve been lowering my cholesterol level with diet and exercise and would like to find more recipes using cinnamon.
