While everyone loves homemade pizza, making and serving the perfect pie comes with more than its fair share of challenges. Here are a few tips that should come in handy:

Less is more: Pepperoni is the quintessential pizza topping. But all the extra grease can turn slicing a pizza into a messy challenge. One way to solve this problem is to first place the pepperoni on a paper towel, cover it with a heavy plate and microwave it on high for 30 seconds. This will remove some of the grease and make the pizza easier to slice after you add the topping.

The only problem now is figuring out how to remove the pizza from the oven without it sticking to the pan or rack. One way to prevent this problem is to place the pizza on a sheet of parchment paper before you put it in the oven. The paper won’t burn or stick to the dough, and it’s easy to remove.

Slicing the perfect slice: Sometimes even an expensive pizza slicer isn’t a match for all the cheese and other toppings you added. For heavy pizzas with lots of toppings, try using a pair of kitchen shears.
